Philly is 11-2 in March while the Suns are 8-5, last game they played Philly won it in Phoenix and having in mind that the 76ers lost only one games at home in last two months (Celtics) it is a sure bet for us. Philly also beat Boston few nights ago in the Garden and Suns were demolished by the same opponent by 20 pts. Shaq is up against the 10 years younger Dalambert who is defensively oriented and that is an additional problem for the Suns.

David West is back in the lineup and the Hornets are once again playing like the best team in the league. They beat Boston and Houston during the four game winning stretch and are more then ready to stop the one man show in Cleveland. Cavs are riding the 9 game winning streak at home but the only team that is any good that they beat during that streak are the Pistons, but they still have the Cavs complex dating from the last years Eastern finals.
Ben Wallace is out so that means that Cleveland interior defense is basically non existing now. Plus, nobody in the Cavs jersey can handle Chris Paul.

Suns @ Celtics

Boston lost two games in a row and the last time that happened they lost in Phoenix to extend the streak. KG talked how they lost this many games because they weren't motivated enough in every game. Prospect of being swept by the Suns should be motivating enough. The way they lost to Philly even more than that. This is a big test and if they are contenders for a championship they will win it and win it big. Prospect of playing Amare will lit the fire in KGs eyes.

In three games this season Grizzlies won 2 and lost one by 3 points. Few nights ago they won at home and will now try to snap the 18 game losing streak in Arco Arena. Beno Udrih is out, Artest and Miller are day to day and not fit enough, there is a possibility that they will even succeed but even if they don't it will be a close affair.

Spurs @ Orlando

Spurs are again back to playing suffocating defense and although they play the high scoring Orlando, they will be up to show that they can slow down the young bucks. First game they played the Spurs enjoyed the run&gun and demolished the Magic in a high scoring charade. Tonight it will be another story, they will be gearing up to the playoffs and there will be no running what so ever. Bowen will pay special attention to Hedo Turkoglu as he poured 26 in the last game they met and Duncan will try harder then usual to stop "the superman" Howard. Spurs kind of basketball game predicted here.

Clippers @ Dallas

Dirk is out indefinitely but the Mavs will not stop running, especially against the Clipps who lost 7 straight and have terrible transition defence. Josh Howard will be the go to guy and he will need to prove a point here if the Mavs are going to see the playoffs. Don't expect a grinder just a desperate team who will try to outscore the other.

Potland is out of the playoff picture as we saw last night when they were demolished by the Sonics. They will now probably tank the rest of the season in order to get higher pick at the draft. On the other hand the Wizards are desperate for home town advantage and every win counts. Having won the last three they must be the favorites to win against Portland.

We almost had a perfect start to the NBA prediction panel but the overtime in Oakland build more then 232 points in that GS-Lakers game. Lakers wanted this game badly and it showed as Odom and Kobe both played more then 50 minutes but it would have still been alright had it not been for OT.

The Nuggets are chasing playoff spot and will be happy to finish the five game road trip tonight. It will be their third game in four days and as we saw last night against the Raptors they will be too fatigued to continue running. In both games this season they barely scored 100 points and won. The Grizz scored 117 points against the Kings where they dominated the paint but with DPOY Marcus Camby clogging the lane we won't see much of that having in mind the Memphis big stiffs.

Celtics will be mad to have lost to the Hornets but they will have nothing to prove against Philadelphia. Sixers, on the other hand will try hard to get a win and snatch the 6 place which will have them avoid the Pistons. Most probably the Celtics will win this game but they will just do enough with saving energy for the upcoming games against the Suns and particularly New Orleans Hornets.

Both teams are scoring a lot but 234?!? Last night they had a shootout and scored 226, tonight they will slow down the pace as all of their big players played well over 40 minutes of fast paced hard ball less then 24 hours ago. Kobe played 46 minutes, took 30 shots grabbed 14 boards and Phil will surely hold him at 35 minutes tonight.

Although we said that there will be a break until next weekend, I just couldn't resist to these three picks.

Chester - Hereford United 2 1-1 LOST

Both teams are much better in away fixtures, while at home they produce average results. Although both teams were expected to struggle before the season, they occupy the the second (Hereford) and third (Chester) place in the league now.
Hereford did well last year to finish at 16th place after being promoted from the conference and everybody thought they had to be struck with a sophomore jinx this year. They showed it is all behind them and the win tonight will make them promotion candidates. Chester on the other hand is a fluke and they were riding their luck so far against the average teams. Their lucky streak might be over this week as they haven't beat Hereford at home for 12 years.

MK Dons - Lincoln 1 4-0 WON

Dons are playing majestic football under the new manager Paul Ince and clearly showing why many pundits had them as number one team in this league. While many thought Lincoln will be close to promotion again this year, they dropped 5 straight games before drawing the last two. They are second to bottom and have been humiliated at home in midweek by the average Hartlepool team. Dons will walk through this game as they will do with this league.

Barnet - Mansfield Town 1 1-1 LOST

Mansfield Town is a mess on and off the pitch. Kieth Haslam is finally of the club and that might be a good news but the owner will have the ruined team and his first game in charge will be against the Barnet team who are undefeated for 7 games. It will be a while until Mansfield change its fortunes.

As you can see from this we established a profit of 9,5 units this weekend. Having in mind that our unit is 20€, that gives us a grand total of 190€ profit.
Having all that in mind, we still think this was a modest week as our French guy made a mess of his picks, and the other two couldn't quite pull him out of his misery. We expect better things in two weeks time.

After French and the English experts it is time for me reveal my German picks. The popular "zweita" is one of the hardest leagues to bet on, but I always managed to find the right picks and once had a streak of 16 straight...way to jinx it isn't it?!?
Let's go with the picks, I managed to pick two that I really like but will add a third just for the good measure.

FC Kaiserslautern - VfL Osnabrück 1 3:0 WON

First win for Kaiserslautern in their ninth game?! It just have to be!!! The amount of bad luck for those poor "Roten Teufel" is unbelievable and the worst away team in the league is just what they needed. I'm pretty sure that Kaiserslautern is winning this game and not only that, I also believe that they will be promotion candidates come spring time. They have a good team and a typical "home team" like Osnabruck will give them a jump start they so badly needed.

TuS Koblenz – Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 0:5 WON

Borussia is the best team in this league. Hands down!!! They had a shaky start but has since then swept all the opponents. Koblenz is an average team and a stable member of the "zweita" and the odds are this big because they play excellent at home but Gladbach handed home losses to both Aue and Pauli which also have a great home record. Five straight wins speaks for itself and it won't stop here.

FC Augsburg – 1899 Hoffenheim 2 2:2 LOST

This is the pick I ain't so sure about as Hoffenheim is a very unstable team but the fact that they have the best midfield in the league and that the 18 million euro investments are finally paying off will make me to take this risk. Augsburg is a very good team so I suggest caution on this pick.


As I said, Hoffenheim was a tough pick, they had a furious finish and managed to pull back from 2-0 down but couldn't quite win it. Hope you are satisfied with the first two picks, I certainly am. Profit is 8,8 units if I'm not wrong but we will wait for JB to put the official statistics for this weekend. I'm sure that we won some money and hope that some of you also won something. We will now make a break because of the EURO 2008 qualifiers but expect us back on Friday 19th or Sunday 21st the latest. So long my friends.
